Dr. B.C. Roy College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, Durgapur organized a free sugar and pressure check-up at the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra on Sunday, 7th March, 2021 on the occasion of Janaushadhi Diwas.
Dr. B. C. Roy College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences, is the only institute that lends such a unique approach and has launched the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi as a part of the BCREC Group’s Community Social Responsibility (CSR). About 600 types of medicines and 154 types of surgical equipment are available at much lower prices than the market. There are digital billing facilities as well. As a result, it is benefiting many distressed people, offering them medicines at a much affordable price than the market.
The ceremony began with the lighting of Diyas. Speeches were shared by Dr. Taraknath Tarafdar of The Mission Hospital who shared that the BCRCP Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra had given the opportunity to the people to buy generic drugs at low prices. Dr. P. K. Mukherjee, former Medical Officer of Alstom, said “As a resident of this area, I buy medicine from here. I also tell the patients of this area to buy medicine from here as it is affordable and offers a financial solution." Dr. Subrata Chakraborty, Director, Dr. B. C. Roy College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences also shared his speech, while Dr. Subhabrata Ray, Principal, Dr. B. C. Roy College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences said that, "the medicines here are tested in government laboratories and hence they are accurate in all respects. So any negative publicity about these drugs is a punishable offense." Mr. Amitabha Chakraborty, Head, Corporate Affairs, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College and Group of Institutions also said that this initiative of BCRCP is really commendable. Dr. Tania Chakraborty was in the role of moderator. Mr. Tarun Bhattacharya, General Secretary, Dr. B. C. Roy Engineering College and Group of Institutions, greeted all on the occasion.
